If you are interested in gambling but don’t want to spend a lot of money, it may be difficult to find the right activity. However, there are some good options for low rollers.
You can participate in any of the gambling activities listed in this document for $2 or less. Some of these options will allow you to have hours of fun in a single bet, while others may result in betting more than $2 if you are not careful.

1 – Lottery
You can buy lottery tickets for $1 or $2. In some places, they even offer games for $0.50. Every time I walk into a gas station, there’s a row of scratch-off tickets staring at me and a big sign with bright red numbers listing the top prizes for Powerball and Mega Millions.
Many scratch tickets can be purchased for $1, while the standard ticket for any of the major lottery games costs only $2. Of course, every time you buy a Mega Millions or Powerball ticket, they will try to take an extra $1 from you. But even if you decide to give them an extra $1, you still only have to pay $3 for a ticket.
The downside of buying lottery tickets is that your chances of winning the lottery are so small that you might as well say they don’t exist.
On the bright side, buying a few tickets each week is an inexpensive way to gamble. Because there are only a few draws in the weekly jackpot game, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a chance at each big draw.
2 – Keno Games
I used to love playing keno. Every casino I entered offered it and you could win $10,000 on a $1 bet. At the places I played, the game was drawn every 10 minutes. So, I had plenty of time to watch the game or talk to friends at the sportsbook in between painting.
You can still buy keno tickets for $1 at many places, but the game is not available at many casinos. Some casinos have replaced the old keno games with video keno machines. The video keno machines are the worst games in the casino, so I never play them.
Nowadays the most common place to find keno games is in taverns, and some state lotteries run keno games.
In general, Keno is similar to a lottery game. Your chances of winning are very low, but you can play keno for hours with very little money. In most places, a single ticket for the lottery is still only $1.
3 – Slot Machines
If you want to gamble but want to risk the least amount of money, the gambling activities listed in the first two sections are the best choices.
Although the other gambling activities listed in this article cost $2 or less, the fact is that once you start playing, it is very difficult to quit. This results in a risk of much more than $2 in a short period of time.
You can play most slot games for $2 or less. In fact, most casinos still have many penny slots that cost as little as .50 or .25 per spin, but if you put your money down and start spinning the reels as soon as possible, you can quickly burn through $20 or $50 or more.
4 – Video poker machine
Video poker machines are a lot like slot machines as far as the cost of playing the game is concerned. You can find quarter machines at some casinos. Even if you bet 5 coins per hand, you are still only betting $1.25 per hand. Or, you can play one coin per hand on a $1 video poker machine.
Just like slot machines, you can risk hundreds of dollars in an hour by playing too fast.
The main difference between slot machines and video poker machines is that some video poker machines have good payoffs. The returns are based on the pay table and whether or not you use a good video poker strategy. When you play video poker, you will still lose, but most likely you won’t lose as much as you would if you were playing slots.
5 – Sports Betting
Sports betting is my favorite way to gamble at $2 or less. While I do often bet on sports above $2, I will always bet small amounts with friends and people I know at work.
When I get together with friends and family to watch a game, we often bet a few dollars. Sometimes, we bet on which team will win the game. Other times, we bet on other things, such as which team will score first or whether a player will score more or less than 20 points.
I like watching the game, but it’s more fun when you have a few dollars on the outcome of the game. It’s even better if you bet with someone who is watching the game. You cheer for your team and you can exchange barbs with the person you are betting with during the game.
Unlike bets you place through bookmakers or real money online sports betting sites, there are no fees to pay when placing bets with family and friends. When you place a bet, you can still use the lines posted in the book, but without any dynamics.
The good news is that no one needs to risk too much money. If you can’t afford to risk $1 or $2 on a game, then you probably shouldn’t watch the game. You should probably do something else to make money.
6 – Online casino games
I have already covered most of the ways to enter a land-based casino and bet $2 or less. However, if none of the games I have described are your cup of tea, there is a way to play the smaller stakes regular casino games.

Micro-limit hold’em games work like regular poker games, but the stakes are a few cents. You can find games with blinds as low as .05/.10 in some online poker rooms.
